Anyone want to record this one?

Green Day

That ain't workin', that's the way they do it,
They're a band known as Green Day
That ain't workin', that's the way they do it,
They are successful 'cause it's their way.

All they do is 3 or 4 chords,
Guess they don't need any more,
All their fans really don't care.
They don't find Green Day a bore.

Their fans know something I don't.
What it is I'll never know.
Green Day earns a lot of money.
To their fans, they sure don't blow.

Make a lot of money, for doin' little,
Not too creative? They don't care.
Simple can sell a lot of records.
Such an achievement is so rare.

I work hard, but make very little,
Should've learned to play guitar,
I'm just an average little Joe,
It don't get me very far.

Green Day has perfected rock,
Their formula works alright,
Simple ideas, lyrics, and chords,
But they sure have a lot of bite.

Green Day does little, but makes a lot,
Guess we'll just let them be,
As Mark Knopfler just might say,
Money for nothing and the chicks for free.

They repeat, the same chorus,
But give them credit, they made it work,
They bought mansions, and jet planes,
Pay is better than a soda jerk.

You can base it on "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits, but it's better you write an original melody as I pretty much shun doing parodies in favor of composing originals so the labels won't come after people like Peter Coffin.
Even Robot Chicken is altering some of the melodies of original songs in their spoofs. Mock the melody a bit so that it reminds the listener of the original song.
