Ok, time's up. Preparations are complete. Time to start posting some of these segments.

New show this weekend.

A quick note for Dave: This show is a few days late due to the nasty events of early last week. This will push back show 2 as well, but post show 3 on or around the 18th even if show 2 isn't posted yet. Don't change anything; it should still be called MMS-222.

Hmm...we'll just see about that.

Xmas & vampires go together like ice cream and turnip flavored constipation casserole. Just once, I'd like to make one of these shows without the undead sticking their fangs in it.

I felt like crap last week, so the schedule for these shows is up in the air now. No more Monday release - they'll be posted right after each is recorded.

Oh, look. It seems Uncle Stavro's planning another one of his Xmas show smutfests. He does this every year; the first Xmas show's always full of Santa sex, bad language, drunken excesses and general over the top cynicism.

I think it's time I did something about that...

Somehow, this show's predictability s getting to me. Naturally, it only occurs to me now that it's all but complete that something radical has to be done with it. Or better yet, something NOT radical.

I still need a show 3. I sure as hell can't make four 2 hour shows - well, I could, but that would involve slapping them together with no rhyme or reason and just announcing what was played rather than presenting an actual show with commentary & gimmicks. If that's what you want, we have a perfectly good Xmas stream for that.

In a perfect world, Wayne, Dave and I would make a full 2 hour MMS-222 together. 6 segments - 2 for each of us. Like that's going to happen. In reality, a podcast may have to suffice.

Of course, you could always call his toll free number & ask him...

This is coming along. It's quicker when the segments have themes. Good thing I started early; I'd never get in 4 shows...

Any requests for this show will be put into a full request segment at the top of show 2. Any after that will be in show 4. This show turned out somewhat less profane/blasphemous than expected, but then you can't have everything. It'll be by no means SFW (though show 2 actually might be...), but I think I got it just right.

Can't help feeling I'm making the same Xmas shows over & over every year. I need a new gimmick to stir things up.

Four segments, four themes.

They're going to go like this:

1: That's Nothing To Be Proud Of, Santa

Songs about nasty things Santa or his "helpers" do.

2: Keep Your Claus To Yourself

Santa's sexcapades.

3: How Do Reindeer Fly? With a Swift Boot Up The Bum

Reindeer abuse.

4: Santa Sez Haters Be Hatin'

Revenge of the Anti-Claus

You know how this works. If I don't start these things now, I'll never get them all in when the actual season arrives. Last month, my PC got screwed up, so I wasn't able to complete Halloween III.

It turned out I just needed an extremely hard to find display driver to go with the graphics card updates I got on the 22nd. It's not like the bastards made that easy by, you know...telling me or anything. Hopefully, it's sorted out now & I can actually get on with making these shows.

Even though the banner's not up yet, you can listen to Xmas dementia on the site's stream right now.

“A towel, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.”

It's become a bit traditional to get all the irreverence out of the way in the first couple of Xmas shows. It's like that with Halloween as well, if you heard those shows this year. No, it won't be pretty, but it will be both nasty and funny - with any luck. The later shows ease up a bit & zonk you with the classics and are generally SFW...sometimes.

Is this by design? You bet your ass it is. There are listeners who want irreverence (& sometimes outright blasphemy) & others who just want shows that establish a mood. Of course, that's what the 24/7 stream is for, but the stream is entirely random - there are too many Xmas songs for it not to be. But some still want an actual DJ to program a show that delivers that mood. Whatever floats your coffin, as Count Aarhus would say.

This first show is scheduled for a 12/4 posting, but since Xmas in on a Monday this year, shows may be posted a day early.

"Expect the first when the bell tolls one, the second at the stroke of two. The third, more mercurial, shall arrive in his own good time."
