Well, with all that's going on at this end I thought I'd clue you all in. First, we bought a new home (more on that in another blog entry)! But, we've also decided to fix this place up and rent it out until the housing prices rise again.

I'll be replacing windows, converting a covered porch into a "Florida Room", repainting the whole interior, fixing a hundred little things and residing the house.

Then there was the shed...

(a story in photos...)

(Please pardon the clarity – they are from my phone’s camera)

This is how it looked.
With putting new vinyl siding on the house I thought it would cheapen the property as-is and I didn’t want to re-side this thing!

So, let the demolition begin!

I turned that… into this…

Then laid the new floor/foundation last weekend…

Then did the framing this weekend – here it is just waiting for the inspector …

Next is the OSB (flake-board) siding & roof, then the Tyvek house-wrap & roof tar paper (then another inspection).

I’ll post more later after the inspector gives me the go-ahead.

Maybe not much - but like I said in another blog entry it's a SMALL house and very little storage space. This adds 128 sq. ft. plus I'll add shelves. At least there's a place to put the lawn mower or bicycle - there's no garage here at the old place.

The other problem is zoning laws and set-backs. With the size and shape of the property, and the required setbacks, once the shed is gone there's no bringing back ANY SHED. This way I could 'grandfather' in the footprint and location - just protecting an option.

Why not just tear it down? Does it help resale that much?

Looks like you're doing a pretty good construction job!

Siding would be a pain with all those angles, but I think this is a bit more work. :)
