PAINTING THE TOWN was written by Michael Gregorovich, and he sent a tape of the music also. I did my best to make it sound like a Loretta Lynn song, with inspiration from "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man." Here's the scoop from Michael: Rich And Famous-Michael Gregorovich . . . . Copyright 2007 Michael Gregorovich I just wanted to mention that Dave has started a song-poem revolution. Instead of cranking out fifteen songs in one hour, as song-poem "sharks" were notorious for doing, Dave does one song in fifteen hours! Dave really cares about the results of his collaborations and you can hear that attention to detail in the quality of this cd. He creates a professional atmosphere where, for the first time ever, a song-poem could realistically become a chart-topper. Of course you can still hear those great human song-poem touches as well, where the words don't quite fit into the music. Nice work, Dave! We may be "Rich and Famous" yet! Not sure why Canadians write so many Tom Sawyer songs, but they do: First Rush, and now me. This one is in the style of Loretta Lynn's defiant humorous country songs of the '60s. It also reminds me of Shania Twain's lighthearted country style. Note the twist ending where it turns out that the only legal action the singer wants is to date a lawyer! Two comments this song has received were that it sounds like "early Flaming Lips" (great!) and it "would make a great kids' song, despite the mature subject matter". Absolutely.
