Facts:
  • An Xmas song made in the '80s during the time Billy West (later of Futurama and Ren & Stimpy fame) was at rock station WBCN (now defunct- in analog, anyway) in Boston. (Stavro Arrgolus)
  • Song Lyrics:
You don't need any Christmas lights
'Cause the Citgo sign is there
    Have a couple belts
    If for nothing else
    It's Christmas in Kenmore Square

See the punks in deco fashions now
The weirdest ways they wear their hair
    Lopsided, obtuse
    Designed by Dr. Seuss
    It's Christmas in Kenmore Square

And like, the students, like, can't wait to, like,
    go home for Christmastime
But like, the Christmas mail is, like
    Rilly, rilly slow

If Mom and Dad don't send a card with travel money soon
We'll just stay in our dorms and hang some mistletoe

It's Christmas party time at the clubs
I'll keep an eye on my friends there
    I stayed real straight
    'Cause I'm the driver designate
    This Christmas in Kenmore Square

Santa's wearin' red leather and studs
But he can't park his sleigh nowhere
    'Cause Santa Claus forgot
There ain't no legal parking spot...

    This Christmas in Kenmore...

    Everywhere it's Christmas...

    in Kenmore Square

Ah, yes. Billy West before Futurama or Ren & Stimpy.

Even without the Boston references, this is a decent Xmas tune that nails down the punk scene of that era. Especially that nasty habit kids have of making 'like' their every other word. By Christ, that's annoying! I preferred their profanity.

    And get off my lawn!
