Very quick update in regards to changes being made to the show in 2026. I'm considering giving the change a little early at the start of July with the acception of not going 2-hours until the start of 2026. Instead, I plan to turn Sunday Funnies into an hour for the rest of the year so I can test my new direction as well as the weekly Wacky 5. So what does that mean? That means that my rule that songs I already played have to wait another four years will be dropped at the start of July, and as for the rule of only one song by an artist a week, that only applies if said artist doesn't have a song hitting the Wacky 5. As for our final show of the year, we'll have a Wacky 10 countdown as 20 will officially begin next year when the show is bumped to two-hours. Also for the time being, I won't interrupt after a song before playing the next one as I will play the next song right away unless there's something I want to address. I would go ahead and go an hour at the start of June, but I want to hold off especially since I've volunteered for a summer program starting next year. Here's hoping these changes will work out for the show.

Major changes are coming up in 2026 for Sunday Funnies. The biggest change is that I will be bumping the show from a half hour to two hours. The reason for this change is because I do kind of miss going a little longer and playing more songs than just six a week, I have been a little burnt out by the rule of not playing a song I have already played for another four years, and to be honest... I also miss countdowns like I use to do on my very first show when I joined madmusic.com in 2011. So yes. Sunday Funnies with Wacky Ben will become a two-hour show starting in 2026, we will have topics like we use to do back in my early podcasting years during hour two of the show, and I will also have the weekly Wacky 5 countdown. Yes, I know this sounds almost like Dr. Demento's Funny 5 countdown, but I figured 5 was better than 3 that I use to do on my old show. As for the end of the year countdown, it will not be a top 25 countdown like Dr. Demento's, but instead a top 20. How it works is that I first open the show with a New Year's song because I don't want to break that tradition, maybe a few post-Christmas songs or something that's trending, and include The Best Of The Dumb Newsbreak. Yes, the Dumb Newsbreak will still be around. Then after that, we proceed with the countdown. Of course I have plenty of time to work out these plans, and I'm already testing this out by setting up test playlists to see how it all turns out just as a warm up. That is the big announcement for the show I have to announce. We're going two-hours next year and we're also having weekly countdowns of the funniest songs of the week. Maybe skits too. I'll have to work out a request page for the Wacky 5 and hope to work out a way to prevent vote bombings because I don't want to go through that without the possibility of disqualifying the song. Let me know what you think of this new direction and I hope that this works out for the show.
