Devon Marlin Henderson was born on February 15th, 1953 in Santa Monica,California son of Ilee Ann (Lybarger)& James John Henderson Senior(His Brother ,born 1954,was named James John Henderson Jr.Deceased 1982).His Mother was a high rope act performer (1940's)in the DeWayne Brothers Circus which toured the West Coast from Alaska to Baja California (1940's-1970's) !She also was a Soprano who sang light opera with Jan Pirce & Anna Maria Albergetti and she played the piano as well.Often ,she said she carried Devon till the 7th month singing!!!He studied Piano & Composition(1965-1970)with famed Jazz Pianist-Songwriter-Elester-"Lester" Myart and Mildred-"Elaine" (Ely-Beigay)-Coleman (who toured with Gene Autry ,The Sons Of The Pioneers and Pat Butramn (in a Sister act-The Ely Sisters )and the Ina Rae Hutton all girl Orchestra in the 1950's .Russel Garcia (The Music for the film-"The Time Machine"did their Arrangements!Mr.Henderson attended Santa Monica College(1970-1974) and studied Music with James Smith who later became his boss at Westside Keyboards in Santa Monica(1979-1990 or so).He also studied privately with noted Composer-Pianist Charles Wardell Brown (1977-his death in 2012) Devon Has been composing since 1967 and has 400 songs & 257 Godsongs since!An entire library of piano music including four sets of pieces in every key on the piano ,Eight Piano Solos,28 PianoSongs,Ten Contemporary Melodies , 34 Piano Sonatas,6 Synthphonies, 10 Concertos for Piano & Synthesizer(#4
for Two Pianos&Synth Orch.) and a Violin Concerto for Synthesized Violin&Orchestra(2013)Dedicated To His composition teacher Charles Wardell Brown(Recipient of a 1950 Degree in Composition at the Philadelphia Conservatory Of Music which Devon inherited& now has on his piano!)Also Twelve Rags!Ten Demented songs have been aired on The Dr.Demento Show(1978-1986)"Terror","Horror","Peril"(Panic),"Waxman","Love's Refrain","It Went Limp","The Asexuality Polka","The Dessert Of My Meal","The Grimmest Time Of Year" and "Padded Cells"(A parody of Silver Bells).. | Devon has a half sister(same Mom) named Lasann May Lyman-Murphree,A Foster sister named Cathy Suzanne Beigay-King,a Foster brother named Ronald -Ronnie Coleman and a half brother(same Dad) named Paul (formerly Henderson but was adopted by his step father in 1959 0r so and has an unknown last name now if he is still living!Oh another half sister named Erika Henderson (same Dad-He married three times!) as well.Most of them have had children so Devon is Uncle to them as well.His Foster Sis, Cathy Suzanne Beigay , had two children with Mark King named David&Kristen King who also call him Uncle Devon and he refers to them as his "foster" nephew&niece!He&His Lovely nice niece are facebook friends!
