You may have noticed I haven't been around much in the past month. You can blame technical difficulties for that. WHenever I log in, I can usually view three to ten pages... then I get page load errors. Consistently... every day... for the past month. I've logged in using four different computers... and using a variety of different browsers, all with the same result. I have logged in using my wife's account and not experienced those problems. So my guess is that it has nothing to do with anything on my computer... So I assume it has something to do with how the programming on this website is treating my account.

Has anybody else noticed the same thing or am I the only one??

Since Wayne hasn't been able to track down the problem, I suppose I'll have to log in on my wife's account for a while. It just means she won't be able to log in and vote on the DT20 for a while... but she usually only does that when one of my songs is in the running anyway.

On a brighter note, I got an email from Dr. Demento a couple days ago. Seems he wants to play "Dead" on his Halloween show and wants the MP3.

I sent him the MP3 as well as the MP3 for Rosedale Manor, explaining that Rosedale Manor is probably more appropriate for a Halloween show.

I'd sure appreciate it if you'd all head over to Dr. Demento's website and vote for Dead and/or Rosedale Manor for the Dr Demento Show.

Indeed, it's not all imported beer and cabbage farts. There's bad news, too. Can you say GoogleAds? Site needs to pay for itself. It's not so bad.

I hope we have a working site and considerably more than 300 when Xmas arrives.

Of course, the test site does not have 300 or more non-members webbing around it. That will probably add some strain when they are added to that system.

When the new site is complete, another account will only be of any use to me, who tests functions with it. It's easier to believe in the new site when it's right in front of me running quickly and not constantly erroring my ass instead of being just a concept. Fonts still need to be bigger though. Background is more 'bowling alley' than 'deck planking'. But at least it's not plain white anymore. Distinct improvement.

Since there isn't a huge amount you control with the artist status, there isn't a great deal to load with every page, so it may not slow things down much.

I wonder how Pale Moon would work.... I installed it a little while ago and haven't yet taken a close look at it.

For those who don't know, Pale Moon is Firefox (which is actually coded with Linux in mind) recoded to exploit advantages in Windows. (That is, if you're inclined to believe there are any advantages to Windows.)

One more factor in all this. Chrome is working much faster than FF or IE. I am using the main account with Chrome and doing all right.

You could use your old "Sick Puppy" name again for a second account.
Welcome back Bob.

There's an idea.

I actually did consider a second account at one time, but remembering previous incidents with a certain "sock puppet" convinced me to reconsider. However, seeing Stavro's success with the same might convince me.... Run a member account and leave the artist account alone so I can get back to doing artist stuff.

Got that right. Not a damn thing will load for me, but Old Uncle Vyslo has it much easier. That alternate account loads much faster. The more control you have, the more load time it takes to load that control.

Actually, a de-grade from Artist to Member might help you for the time being. My guess is that the decision matrix for what to put on a page is taking that bit longer for the privledged.

Hint.... It doesn't affect everybody the same.... When it does affect you, it won't be quite so bad if you're away for a few days.

Welcome back, Bob.

A shiny new site is being constructed and will replace this version when it's ready.

Meanwhile, some functions will continue to blow goats.

Has it been a whole year????

Well.... It seems that the problems that kept me away have spread to others. I read some of the forum posts and recognise the symptoms.

Hint.... It doesn't affect everybody the same.... When it does affect you, it won't be quite so bad if you're away for a few days.

Was I right?

Hope the repairs mean I can come back more often again soon.

Nice banner Dave!! Thanks for the help. Dr Demento will think I have a lot of fans!!

I did mention the possibility of creating a new account with Wayne, but I believe he wants to try to find the problem first. Of course, simply creating a new account is the easy part. I've been around here long enough that my account statistics are showing a lot of activity... such as how long I've been a member, how many forum posts I write, blogs, avatars, files, friends.... get the picture? It would potentially be a lot of work linking the old info into the new account. (Of course, that my guess.)

The browsers I've tested this problem on are Firefox (current and previous versions), Seamonkey, I.E. and the final version of Netscape.

Of the four computers I tried from, one was running on a fresh install of XP with SP2... three others were also using XP with SP3. I haven't tried any other operating system, so perhaps I should boot up a copy of Linux and see what I get.

Funny thing though... My wife's account works just fine.

Another bright side of not being able to spend all my time here... I've got more time to work on music (I have a few ideas I'm working on) and even possibly guest hosting a Mad Music Show. I have quite a few records that have never been played on any show... not even Dr Demento... based on info in our database. Of course, recording and cleaning up every song takes a lot of time.

It seems like the site works a lot better in Firefox than IE. I now look at MMA exclusively in Firefox.

Congrats on Dr. Demento wanting to play your song.

We've missed you and I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. That sucks.
Ever since Wayne put the "Donate" button on every page, I (and a few others) have had some problems loading or viewing my flash banners. Other than that the website is working fine for me.

Why don't you have Wayne create a new account for you and see if that works.
