"Music from Dracula's Castle" Stavro Arrgolus

A Halloween sound effects album consisting of full length instrumental tunes interspersed with snippets from old horror movies and then a sequence of sound effects. Although it's credited to 'various artists', this album is generally known to be the work of Matt Fink, best known as keyboardist for Prince's band, The Revolution, who won a Grammy® in 1985 for the Purple Rain soundtrack album. Being a keyboardist, Fink's instrumentals are entirely synthesizer based, but still effectively set the right mood for Halloween.Stavro Arrgolus

Reviews:

Don't be deceived by the comical cover and the "K-Tel" label. This is no ordinary cheapo Halloween sound effects record. The first eight instrumentals are full length songs which, even with the slightly cheesy intros & outros from horror movies, are decent Halloween tunes in their own right and effectively set the proper mood for the increasingly lengthy "Halloween season". My favorite is "Tears of Blood", but if you get a chance to hear them, you can decide for yourself.

Facts:

The eight full length Matt Fink instrumentals on this album were considered good enough (for K-Tel, anyway) to release by themselves. They appear on a later K-Tel album, "Music of the Vampires" (2005). (Stavro Arrgolus)
