Stark Raving Black
By: Lewis Black

If I spent $87,000 on an area rug, that rug should be woven from the pubic hair of virgins... and I should have a leather-bound book with photos of the women who contributed to my rug and I would keep that book in my credenza.

Raving, my ass! He's downright calm (compared to his usual style) for much of this album. He tones down the shouting a bit just long enough to get philosophical about his environment before he goes back into rant mode. His premises involving his parents and hope in general tone down the usual noise a bit and seem to send him on an introspective trip toward the end of the album.
He recovers and he ends in fine form, but I can't help think that he did too much thinking for this performance- which is usually good- but not always for Lewis' style of comedy.
As always with albums, hearing it a few more times may alter opinions a bit. | Stavro Arrgolus |
