OK.

I watched Dancing With The Stars and Boston Legal last night.

Just got an HDTV set. Susan Lucci never looked better on HD. ;-)

Neither did Valerie Bertinelli. She said a line "What's wrong with you demented people?" in the show and I fell down laughing. I'll use that sound byte in a DFSX sweeper. Have Lucci in one earlier.

And I watched the season premiere of Hannah Montana the night before, though it's not in HD. Also saw the Fox toons, a Star Trek rerun, and Wizards of Waverly Place that has Selena the teenage witch or something like it.

And oh yes. NFL Football in HD on CBS, Fox, and NBC. Yeah!

I guess I'm an oddball in Dementia Nation.

Retirement means not having to drive everywhere all the time. My insurance company recently told me that I drove 795 miles all last year (10% discount on ins.). That adds up to a fair bit of change not spent on insanely priced gas which can be diverted to insanely exorbitant cable bills.

I also have far too many analog VCRs. The one that records with the best quality is from 1989 and won't rewind. I'm hoping very soon that the predictions are true and both DVD formats will soon be obsolete and everything will be recordable on flash drives. I have a Sony DVD burner in my increasingly decrepit 'puter, but I'll be damned if I can figure out the software. It always refuses to function for some reason which I can never work out. Waste of money.

The premium stuff is okay if you have the income to support it, but I don't have that kind of money to afford it now. I still have analog VCRs and waiting for them to go kaplunk before I buy a new digital video recorder.

Yea, but the steaming pile is less boring than the sci-fi stuff that filkers like to sing about.

I just replaced my dead TV with an HDTV last month. Crappy cable only has a few HD channels. Football does look very good now. Sounds even better with an optical connection going directly into my receiver. Gave up on the steaming pile that is network TV some time ago, but Discovery and the premium stuff makes up for it. One never knows quite how ugly the local newscasters are until they're seen in HD.

I contemplated hooking up HDTV when I set up the cable in my new place. But for just a few channels that I'd actually watch at the price they're charging, I didn't bother. TV already looks better on my LCD than it ever did on my older sets and DVDs look great when I make sure to buy the full screen versions. I'll make my final decision on HD after I get a Blu-ray, sometime next year.
