fiogf49gjkf0d The Day after 9/11
With every 9/11 anniversary comes a 9/12 anniversary. My Dad died on 9/12/2001, 60 days shy of this 80th birthday. All the 9/11 remembrances come back to remind me and others who suffered a loss at that time, not related to World Trade Center or Flight 93 or the Pentagon, of the loss. Dad might have stayed up to watch a World War II movie that 9/12 evening, just to remind himself of who won, after at least 36 hours of constant news coverage. The heart attack started soon after that and a long-distance conversation with one of my sisters. With the trip to the local hospital, the EMS crew tried to get a Med-flight to get him to the better suited U of M hospital, as per normal in cases like this, but it seems someone forget that grounding all airplane flights included those Medical rescue flights and permission was needed from higher authorities for the helicopter to take off. I started getting calls that Dad was in the hospital and I need to get there to support Mom. Well the hospital crew tried, and dad did revive after a flat-line or two, and ended up passing away in the early minutes of 9/13. Then the helicopter landed. I was on the phone with a sister hearing of hist passing when that Med-flight was passing over my house, taking off from Ann Arbor airport. Yes,I get a little sad at this time of year. For sisters, it meant driving back here from Texas, Las Vegas and Chicago, as you might remember, still no planes were flying. Four of the eight children live in the Central time zone, so to them, dad did pass away on 9/12/2001, but the death certificate and tombstone say 9/13.

fiogf49gjkf0d I feel for you Tim. Having a loved one pass on a noted date is somewhat difficult. I know - my father passed away this July 4th. Although his passing at that time was not anticipated, it was not as surprising as a heart attack.
