The 'truth in advertising' people strike again. This is a message from Devospice about the FuMP's new features with the same background music used in his 'News of the Stupid' segment of the 'Manic Mondays' podcast. (Stavro Arrgolus) |

Song Lyrics: |
Hey everybody, Devo Spice of Sudden Death here with a special message about The FuMP. We posted a news story about this a couple weeks ago but we wanted to get it on the feed for those of you who may not have noticed, or maybe haven't been to the site in a while, or don't know how to use a scroll bar, simply can't read, or have been too busy bathing your numerous cats. We've added a new warning tag to the songs on the site. Now in addition to the usual explicit tag for songs that have naughty words we've added a tag called Squick. Squick is internet slang, sort of the opposite of squee, and it's used for things that are sick and disgusting. Picture George Bush naked in a barn with a horny warthog, and you'll kind of get the gist of what we're talking about.
We've gone back into the archives and labeled a few previously posted songs as squick, including Give It To Everybody by my group Sudden Death, and Heavy Flow by Seamonkey. We don't want to censor our artists but we recognize that not everyone likes this type of humor, so we wanted to make sure people had a heads up when a song like this is posted. Nothing worse than expecting a nice clean family friendly song about menstruation and then being subjected to Heavy Flow.
Expanding on that, we've created two new RSS feeds. The feed we started with and likely the one you're listening to now has become our All Songs feed. Everything that gets posted to the site whether it's clean, explicit, or squick will show up on this feed. For those who don't want to receive the squick tracks we've created a new no-squick feed. This one will likely be nicknamed the Seamonkey Filter at some point, I'm sure. But this feed will pull down clean and explicit songs but will ignore anything marked as squick.
And we've created a no-explicit feed which will ignore both explicit and squick songs and only serve up those songs that don't have a warning label. Keep in mind that just because a song doesn't have a warning label doesn't mean it is necessarily clean, family friendly or radio friendly. There may be still be some adult topics, double entendre, Paris Hilton references and God help us things about Larry The Cable Guy, so listener discretion is advised.
If you're fine with the occasional squick track and want to continue to receive all of the songs we post, you don't have to do anything. If you want to subscribe to one of our new feeds, either the no-squick, or the no-explicit feed, unsubscribe from the main feed, and then go to our web site at TheFuMP.com (and really if you didn't know that was our web site by this point I reserve the right to reach my hand out through your speakers and smack you off the back of your head) and click on the FuMP Podcast link in the upper right corner of the screen below the login fields. This will give you instructions on how to subscribe to one of the new feeds.
The other reason we wanted to post this was to give you all a heads up that the current schedule calls for Seamonkey to post a new song on Friday, August 29th. This will be a squick song. Oh, how squick it will be. So if you don't want to hear it unsubscribe from the main feed and subscribe to one of the other two on our web site. This will prevent any fragile little minds from being warped. At least for now.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback you can reach us at support@fidim.com. Thanks for listening, and thanks for supporting funny music! The FuMP has been a huge success and we couldn't have done it without you. We've got more things planned for the future and as soon as I can find a few more hours in the day I'll actually start working on them. In the mean time, FuMP ON! Get the FuMP outta here! or Snap Crackle and FuMP! I don't know... I need to go to bed. Later everybody! (Stavro Arrgolus) |
