Song Lyrics: |
Don't jump off of the roof, Dad.
Lyrics as I remember them from a misspent youth.
Daddy came home from work tired, The boss had been driving him mad, The kids starting hollering, the dog bit him, too. Dinner was nothing but warmed over stew. Maybe twas then he decided, up to the rooftop he'd go. He was just about to jump off when the kids started howling below.
Chorus: Ohhh, don't jump off of the roof, Dad, You'll make a dent in the yard. Mother just planted petunias, The weeding and seeding was hard. If you must end it all, Dad, Won't you please give us a break? Just take a walk to the park, Dad, and there you can jump in the lake.
Mother soon heard the commotion, and rushed out to see what it was. That's when she saw him perched there on the ledge, ready to fall with the weight of the sledge. She ran outside and yelld "sweetheart, don't do the terrible deed" Then she got down on her knees and Tearfully started to plead.
Chorus: (Mama Bluegrass) |
