Long ago, back in the ancient mists of time...there was no internet! Not only that, even cable TV wasn't available everywhere, either. I can hear you millennials out there screaming, "What the hell could you even do back then, anyway?!"

Well I'll tell you. In the evening, after a productive day (HA!), we'd climb down from our dinosaurs and do various non-internet related things, i.e., things the young of today couldn't possibly conceive of.

Apparently, West German girls in leather pants who didn't shave their armpits would often sit in theaters at midnight and watch old American movies. It was either that or go out & get wasted - and theater tickets were dirt cheap in those days, so it was money more constructively spent.
