* Sep 16: In 1979, Rap, The New York City ghetto music in which the performers
* chant rhymed and rhythmical verses over prerecorded instrumental dance
* tracks, makes it onto vinyl with the release of the Sugar Hill Gang's
* "Rapper's Delight." Sylvia Robinson (formerly of Mickey and Sylvia) formed
* the company to produce rap records despite industry warnings that rap had
* no commercial appeal. "Rappers Delight" was recorded over the instrumental
* break from Chic's "Good Times." The single becomes a disco smash sellling
* two million copies in the U.S. It sampled a melody of Chic's "Good Times",
* looped it endlessly, rhymed a story over it, and VOILA! Instant record.
* Sep 17: Cassandra Peterson -- is 62 in the year 2013; b.9/17/1951
* In 1988, "Hey Vern It's Ernest!", TV Childrens; debut on CBS.

* Anderson, and the infamous Thanksgiving Turkey Drop. Howard Hesseman, Tim
* Reid and Loni Anderson prove that you can have a face for radio and still
* make it on TV! On the debut, the station is losing $100,000 a year so the
* new program director, Andy Travis, decides to shake things up, freaking
* out the station's older listeners and owner Momma Carlson with a new
* format -- rock 'n' roll.
* Sep 19: Jimmy Fallon -- is 39 in the year 2013; b.9/19/1974
