Technically, no. They're just dressed as the castaways playing straight pop covers, albeit "Gilligan-centric" covers. The visuals are what sell it. If you didn't see the band, you wouldn't think of it as novelty - HOWEVER...
There are precedents for this: The Archies - 'Sugar Sugar'. The 'Brady Kids' had a cartoon show in the early 70s and played music in every show, Rick Springfield had a whole album full of songs for "Mission: Magic", another Saturday morning cartoon, all 3 versions of The Mickey Mouse Club had singing kids...I could go on. I used to play these sorts of songs on TMMS myself.
So the rule is, "If the current DJs play them, it counts." Even if it's not dementia by itself.
