Most of the time, yes...but not always. You have to use a bit of common sense. For this song, a song you know was meant to be cheesy, it will be novelty. Bubblegum tunes were made to be that way. Ultimately, you have to hear the artist's intent in any covers.

Can a Bubblegum song that's novelty like The Archies' "Sugar Sugar" that been covered so many times to where it's mainstream, even novelty anymore? I've seen it riveted by rock, country, indie, metal, rap, you name it. And if the original is still novelty, does the covers continue as novelty?
