UPDATE: due to unforeseen circumstances, I am ending production of Wacky Ben's Laff Attack much earlier than anticipated thus retiring sooner. I have already recorded my July 10th show in advance, so I will make the announcement on the following July 17th show where I will have the very last weekly Wacky 5 countdown and that also means no Wacky 30. I haven't decided when my final show will be as it will not be in July, but possibly October 2nd. The reason is because of some last minute planning and songs to play including one from a friend that hasn't been recorded yet.

I'm sorry to end so soon, but because of my lack of energy caused by some ongoing health conditions caused by stress and anxiety, I have no choice. I will be working out some last minute show plans in the meantime, and I'll update as soon as possible.

As you saw in the title, yes, I am retiring from 21 years of being a comedy music DJ. My original plan was to continue on for one more year and have three final shows in January of 2028, but plans have changed and 2026 will instead be my final year and I'll have those three final episodes for January of 2027 instead. Technically four with January 1st being the Wacky 30 of 2026.

This is my reason. The first is that I want to focus on my comic book business and get it off the ground. The second, and this is the most important reason, I've been going through some health problems these past few weeks that I've been losing the energy and motivation to record that it's been putting a lot of stress on me. Even if I miraculously recovered, I don't think I can continue on another year because I've dedicated 21 years of my life in both radio and podcasting (15 years) that I think all those years of putting time and effort into production of every show I've hosted is draining me. I haven't made this announcement for next Friday's show, and I will for June 12th. So the fact of the matter is my health, both physically and mentally, needs to be taken care of, and retiring from 21 years of spinning comedy music is something I need to do. Nothing lasts forever and all good things must come to an end.

So here's the plan. I will continue to host Wacky Ben's Laff Attack for the remainder of 2026. I'll do my best to get as many episodes as I possibly can up until the end of the year, and then in January of 2027 I'll have my very last Wacky 30 countdown, and then the last three shows will be a three episode finale as I want my last show to air on the exact week I had my very first radio broadcast at WQNA 88.3 The Edge which sadly has signed off years ago. Despite my struggles, I've enjoyed my run of bringing laughter with the music I have played my 21 years of broadcasting and podcasting. I may regret this decision later in life, but I have to think of what's best for my health. In the meantime, please continue to listen to Wacky Ben's Laff Attack, and if I have any other updates, I will make them soon. Have a good and wacky weekend.
