When this album was first released the cover had a real popcorn box glued onto it. It was a very clever 3-D pop art cover. Later re-issues only had a picture of the box as the cover. (Dave AuJus) |

This is not the band that did the synth-pop hit "Popcorn". This looks like R&B, Soul, or Rap.

|
No, it kind of is. Stan Free, member of the First Moog Quartet, who originally recorded the song in 1969, rerecorded the instrumental with his band Hot Butter in 1972. Unless it's a different Hot Butter - in which case the original can be added and this one can be deleted.
What bugs me is that only the much later CD releases seem to be posted (on a lot of pages), giving the impression the song or album is much newer than it really is.

Yes Stavro, This looks like a different Hot Butter. We have the correct Hot Butter here: www.madmusic.com/artist_details.aspx?ArtistID=6076
Sometimes new bands take the name of an old defunct band either because they think it's cool or they don't realize someone else used the name before them.

This album isn't theirs. I've found the right tracks & cover art.
This can be sorted out right now...

There, done. It seems this cover art I changed was part of another re-release by the "proper" Hot Butter with more tracks. Those albums are here as well, but this is the original.
I can't eliminate the purchase link without generating an internal error. This is one of the many bugs Wayne will have to fix - and yes, I'm typing it out here so I don't forget. And I will forget.

Thanks for sorting it out Stavro.

That's the first thing I tried. No go. The other soul-like tracks that were there is clearly an issue with Amazon. Wayne imported a lot of albums at the beginning and problems arose with that - including the infamous multiple identical track listings on one album issue. That's still not completely sorted out.

Well I got rid of the top one by putting in the lp number but the bottom link is still not changeable.
