J.C. Anderson's Interests
General I like to bike, lift weights, pick the guitar (although I'm not worth a damn at it) play the keyboard, maybe slightly better than I pick the guitar. I like to battle verbally on message boards with yuppies, guys in ties, and snooty ultra liberals.
Music I like old time Country, with the boom chicka boom sound. Blues, folk music and of course some of the stuff I write. When I pick the keyboard I do tunes from the thrities and forties and I enjoy them.
Movies Cool Hand Luke, African Queen and Doctor Zhivago come immediately to mind.
Television I, like almost everyone in America used to love Seinfeld. I would often find myself saying this is a Seinfeld moment. Here's an example. I'm at the library and the person at the computer next to me is hammering on the keys. It drives me nearly nuts. Are the unaware of how irritating they are. I can't think of any other favorites right now. Maybe Cops. I get a bang out of how they talk to those goons as if they are going to make them see walk right and see the light. The crooks can sometimes be funny, the cops are almost always funny.
Books Mad in paperback. Twain's works. Books of quotations. Don Quixote. Candy (I read it on a train years ago. It was a nasty but uproariously funny book. There were two nuns on the seat in front of me and I almost felt like tapping them on the shoulder and saying "look at this shitttt."
Heroes Aquaman, Superman, Tarzan, Houdini, Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali, Cool Hand Luke, Me, Hank Williams, Howlin' Wolf, Stephen Foster, Madonna, Sinead O'Connor (before she made up with the guy with the funny hat) The guy who stood in front of a tank in Tiannamen Square (please forgive my spelling) in China when they had that short lived rebellion, and Rosa Parks.
