fiogf49gjkf0d Discounts on DVDs have been around for almost as long as the format. To get rid of excess stock. Sometimes the stock is 'cut-out' in store, other times it has to be returned someplace and comes back to stores as discontinued discount priced product. Seems to go $9.99, $7.50, $5.00. The big bin of mixed titles at Wal-Mart might even have them at 2 for $9. My Pioneer DVD player has a USB port, not just for pictures, but can play AVI & WMV files. Solid State playback. Had to find it on the internet to get functionality of also playing PAL format DVDs.

fiogf49gjkf0d Ah, there's the new tech now. But however are we going to move all those warehouses full of discs we have gathering dust in Guangdong? I know! We'll make up this crap about 'Blu-Ray' and tell people it's better than regular DVDs and sell all those surplus crap disc players we have at a huge profit! Then we'll put everything out on flash drives and sell the same movies over again. It's like printing money! Bwahahahahahaha!

fiogf49gjkf0d When stuff in a format gets cheap, new tech is around the corner. Really expensive tech. Hopefully solid state stuff with no drives with moving parts to fail. Along with all those missing fish. Wonder where they could be. Oh, fishy fishy fishy fish!

fiogf49gjkf0d Example: I got the 2 disk special edition of Monty Python's Meaning of Life recently for $5. It's got quite a bit of cast commentary and extra stuff. Sure it's over 25 years old, but is one I like watching every once in a while.
