(c)2007 Jeff Richardson
The lyrics were written by Jeff Richardson, and the music was performed and recorded by David Dubowski using guitar, bass, drums, a Boss BR-864 multitrack recorder, and Goldwave software for editing and the flanging effect on the drums at 1:56. It's technically a song-poem. The female background vocals are Amy singing 3 separate times. This song poem was intended to sound like a Jimi Hendrix song, it sounds a lot better in stereo, so definitely go to Itunes.com and buy the MP3, or go to geocities.com/songpoemhits and buy the entire CD.
The intro is like Are You Experienced, with a cymbal crash and guitar pluck played backwards.
The drumming was meant to sound like Mitch Mitchell - man he is incredible, I can only do a couple of his chops, but they worked.
The female vocals are like Burning Of The Midnight Lamp, or Hey Joe. I had my girlfriend Amy sing "ah....." three separate times to make it sound like 3 girls singing in harmony.
I did a bass guitar doodley-doodley-do at 0:44 and at 1:22 It's like the song 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn to Be). I tried to do more plucky bass like Noel Redding, but I forgot that he used a pick.
My guitar skills don't even come close to Jimi's - the lead guitar in this recording is actually about 20 separate short riffs, done one at a time, playing along as the song progressed. Thanks to the digital recorder, all the pieces fit together.
at 1:56 the drums are flanged, done with the software on my PC. This is like the song Bold As Love, also the intro to Burning Of The Midnight Lamp
The solo starting at 1:24 has some parts of it backwards, done with Goldwave software on the PC, like in the song Are You Experienced, and Castles Made Of Sand
The sound at the very end is fast guitarpicking and a cymbal roll. Similar to the end of Are You Experienced. (davidwhy) |
