Song Lyrics: |
(ghosts:) I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a ghost.. oooo! and I haunt all of the bad little boys who tell big fibs and break up toys
I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a ghost.. oooo! and I'm after kids who fuss and fight and never wash their necks at night
oooo oooo oooo oooo! Don't tie cans to a doggie's tail oooo oooo oooo oooo! I'll get you when the moon turns pale
I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a snooky, ooky, spooky, ooky, eerie, dreary, scary ghost
(child ghost:) I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a ghost.. oooo! and I haunt all of the bad little boys who tell big fibs and break up toys
I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a ghost.. oooo! and I'm after kids who fuss and fight and never say their prayers at night
(ghosts:) oooo oooo oooo oooo! Eat your spinach every day oooo oooo oooo oooo! or you can't go out and play
I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a ghost.. oooo! I'm a snooky, ooky, spooky, ooky, eerie, dreary, scary ghost

Well spotted indeed. I didn't get to this before now as I was recording a show & writing the script for another. This answers a lot of questions about the song which appears as info on the page above now. The track was pieced together, presumably by Dr. Demento, to make a complete song he could play on his show. It also explains why he called the artist 'anonymous' to begin with. The performers were uncredited studio musicians contracted to Columbia. IMDb even mentions uncredited directors (the cartoon didn't credit any director), so we're unlikely to ever find out who the artists were. Credits are demanded for everyone involved in a work today - in the '30s, not so much.

fiogf49gjkf0d On the #91-43 Dr. D. show, he said that this song's 'anonymous', as some ghosts want to be... I had to add something in the artist box because the page gives an error message when trying to add lyrics if the 'artist' line is empty. Popeye clearly wasn't anonymous when this song was released as his influence appears in the lyrics.
An Asphalt Aardvark™ is anonymous until you put those collars with cute names embossed in the leather on them. The 'varks I have which stand regally on brick pedestals and flank my driveway are called Aarmand and Aarturo.

fiogf49gjkf0d Who's anonymous?
|
|
fiogf49gjkf0d This is a really great Halloween song from the '30s that doesn't get nearly enough airplay on our shows. It certainly fits the spirit.
