As of this week, I had a successful surgery to remove my gallstones that had been affecting me almost all year and now I am without a gallbladder. My first removed organ since I had my tonsils removed at a very young age. I had been recovering most of the week and I'm doing much better but still taking it easy. When the time is right, I will resume recording my final two shows as soon as I get what I need such as a song or two for the final show, the shoutouts also for the final show, and I'm awaiting to find out when the Logan Awards will be held (virtually this year from what I heard) so I can make the announcement though I will not be able to play any of the nominees so I settled for the FuMP's Logan medley that I plan to play on my second to last show. So to any artist or DJ or fan who has enjoyed my podcasts, if you wish to send a shoutout for my final show and wish me success in my comic book business, send them to wackybenpodcastcomic@gmail.com. Deadline is September 25th.

Alright so here's an update. This Friday marks the first of my final shows. I have already recorded the other three final shows in advance. I haven't recorded the last two yet and I will sometime after I recover from gallstones surgery to have them removed. By the way, they're the reason I was retiring for health reasons but now my main focus is my comic books and because I'm getting burnt out from recording. Back on track. I'm also holding off on recording my final show until I get a few more shout outs to include in the show and so far I only received four. Not enough for a 3-hour finale. My first final four shows will be biweekly, but then the second to last show will be the following week leading up to the final show the following week. In other words, the last two are weekly instead of biweekly. I will try and upload my second final show either before my surgery so it will go live on it's respectable date, or sometime after during recovery.

I appreciate that. As much as I would love to continue on, I really need to focus on my comic book business as I mentioned at the start of the post. Besides, I've been getting burnt out from recording podcasts as this is a one man show and I don't get assistance like an engineer. Still, I just need to stop. As for the health reasons of my retirement? It's gallstones.

As much as we still need to fill a weekly void left by Dr. Demento's retirement, your priorities in life and health comes first. Hoping that in the future, if conditions warrant may you can consider doing a one-time special or two. I'm sure you would be welcome back here anytime. Best of luck and good health to you always.

A-Log:

I apologize; but let the Wacky One rest. He has stated his reasons. His health being one of them.

Hiw bout instead of completely disbanding cut it down to once a month or holidays?

---
Wacky Ben:

UPDATE: I decided to add an extra episode for September 25th dedicated to what I call last minute plays. A selection of both songs I played before in the past that I want to play one last time, and songs I never played before serving as a followup to my first and last plays show for September 4th. This now results into six episodes instead of five before my series finale and soon to be retirement.

Not happening. I gave my reasons to why I'm retiring, one of them is health reasons, and I'm sticking by it.

As this week's episode gets ready to go live in less than an hour, I want to show what the remaining schedule looks like for the remainder of the show as I am retiring earlier than expected due to unforeseen circumstances. Instead of January as planned, I will instead be ending my run as a comedy music DJ in early October, and as of this week I am taking the rest of July off and be back in August with a set of biweekly episodes. Limited in this case. Here's what they are.

8/7/26: Songs that spawned my interest in funny music (a dedication to songs I heard as a kid, the Wacky Favorites compilation album from 1993, and Dr. Demento albums that inspired me to be a comedy music DJ)

8/21/26: Top 10 artists (this is dedicated to the top 10 artists of my 15 years of podcasting ranked from their number of appearances on my first podcast from 2011 to 2015, to 2025 to now)

9/4/26: First and last plays (this is where I dedicate the entire episode to songs I have never once played on any podcast I hosted with the exception of songs I played at WQNA but never online)

9/18/26: Top 30 (this special countdown makes up for the cancelled Wacky 30 where I countdown the 30 best songs I played for the past 15 years online from 2011 to now)

10/2/26: 3-hour finale (this final show will have all of my personal favorite songs during my 22 years as a comedy music DJ and will be a special 3-hour series finale)

It sucks that I am retiring but as I said sometime ago, I need to focus more on my comic books as I want to draw comics for a living, and I need to treat my ongoing health problems. I had a good run spinning funny music for 22 years, but as the old saying goes: "All good things must come to an end." Be on the lookout for these final shows beginning in August.
