The Mad Music Hour #184 - February 26, 2014
Topic: Somebody Set Us Up The Bomb
As the title suggests, this show is about bombs, explosions and the culture that surrounds them in these evil times. The whole show is more or less an experiment to see if the NSA really is spying on every corner of the net and if this particular corner is one of them.

Because the theme is war, bombs & terrorism, there's quite a bit in this show that's politically incorrect and thus potentially offensive. Well, not really - only hypersensitive pus...oh wait, I can't say that these days either. Let's just say that very few will actually find it offensive. (Stavro Arrgolus) |
For those playing the home game, you'll already have noticed that the whole show is a big experiment to determine if the NSA is actually spying on us. Each segment is loaded with buzzwords that get their attention and then followed by subtle disclaimer phrases that erase any insinuations the buzzwords had made. Just to screw with their heads. After all, they should be snooping on actual bad guys and not comedy websites. Fascists. (Stavro Arrgolus) |
It was easy enough to choose a Shirley Temple tune and Devo songs for Bob Casale, but I had to reach a bit for a song for Harold Ramis...he directed National Lampoon's Vacation, so I played its closing theme - the Lindsey Buckingham song, which just sounded right. It does not go into the archive. (Stavro Arrgolus) |
Looking around the net now, I'm reminded of something I'd long forgotten... Bill Hicks died 20 years ago today. (2/26/1994) I'd like to have remembered that earlier - like when I was actually making the show. The episode was very late and I was too busy trying to finish it to remember. I'm too fried now to do anything about it, but perhaps at some point, another segment can be added to this show... (Stavro Arrgolus) |

fiogf49gjkf0d We forgot the "Penguin on the Telly" explosion.
Also, you could tie the celebrity death part with the war/explosion segments with "Another One Bites the Dust".

fiogf49gjkf0d I could have used that instead of 'I've Got 2 Legs'. It begins & ends with explosions. That would have made the show even longer. This "one hour show" comes in at just under 90 minutes. Any more additions will make this a full MMS. Especially if I were to add a tribute to Bill Hicks.
I'm already behind one show. I have to finish a podcast and the special first.

fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks for another great show!

fiogf49gjkf0d Don't change a thing.

fiogf49gjkf0d Not the MMH. Only the podcast format. Hide the kids. The new show's mini-theme is...disturbing.
