fiogf49gjkf0d All nits have been successfully picked. Thank You.
...and Allen & Paar were both way before MY time too... But I sure remember a lot of nights with Doc, Ed, & Johnny.

(Does the EDIT satisfy the nit pickers?)

fiogf49gjkf0d Nope they don't count... were way before I was old enough to stay up late and watch the show :)
Kinda like Senators... If you haven't served a couple decades in office your name is just a small footnote in the history books... (unless you happen to get elected President or some such...)
jmanforever: --- Third host at bat??
Aren't Steve Allen and Jack Paar in the mix somewhere?

fiogf49gjkf0d Huh? What? First came Steve Allan then Jack Parr....mere pikers with only a few years as host, but each did most to shape what the show became for Carson to take over. All 4 of those previous hosts died within the last 6 years. Can Jay Leno survive the curse of The Tonight Show? Some would point out Ernie Kovas was really there first, but his show was local to New York only, where Steve Allan took the local show to a national audience. Connan might pick up more college age audience. Myself, I might get to bed when I really should be going to bed. That, or get a TV show from a DVD series viewed.
