Topic: Christmas at Ground Karaoke Zero

fiogf49gjkf0d I'm sure you all have heard "Christmas at Ground Zero" by Weird Al. Well, now you can hear it as a MIDI sequence! I swear this is the first ever karaoke arrangement of this song, let alone MIDI. Anyway, I planned this one a long time ago, but I never made it until now. I decided to do an actual Christmas song this year. You probably expected another remix, didn't you?
I'm sure you'll find this one really interesting. I managed to get in all the sound effects that were in the original. If it wasn't for pitch bends and other controllers, this would have been impossible with the patch library that I have.
Well, it took me longer than I'd hoped, but here it is! Enjoy! www.themadmusicarchive.com/stream_file.aspx?id=406
And for thise of you wondering, I haven't given up on this site. I come here twice a week. I originally planned to do that to check for updates, but now it's mostly to stay on the friends list...

fiogf49gjkf0d Yeah, I was wondering if SoundChoice did it. I need to get started with CDG again.
karlap: ---
However, this is NOT the first karaoke version of the song - it has been done by Chartbuster and SoundChoice in CDG format. Unfortunately both the Chartbuster Wacky Christmas and the SoundChoice Twisted Holiday Hits CDG discs are long out of print. The MP3+G versions (bundled mp3 and cdg files) do not seem to be available from any legal karakoke download service; you can find them as torrents if you are into peer-to-peer file sharing.
thekaraokechannel.com does offer the song in video format - for $1.49 you get both wmv and mp4 versions; for $.99 you get two mp3 audio only versions: the karaoke version and one with lead vocal. I believe that these are derived from the SoundChoice version with the same music (including the backing vocals).

fiogf49gjkf0d Thanks! You're right. It works fine in Windows Media Player.
karlap: --- First, let me say that I agree with all the previous comments -- great job! I also had the bomb problem with Quicktime, but it worked fine with both Winamp and Windows Media Player. Thanks for the vanBasco tip -- Winamp also displays the lyrics if you have the right plugin installed.

fiogf49gjkf0d Quicktime.
Sonic SBL: --- What program are you using? Your player might be sending the program change at the wrong time. That's when a track changes from one instrument to another. So my guess is that when the program sent the change to what the explosion was, the "bomb notes" had already started playing. I also used the sustain for it, but I left it on, which is okay if the program change works right. But in your case, it kept the note going. I recommend using vanBasco's Karaoke Player so you can see the lyrics and look at the notes and instruments that are playing.
Max DeGroot: --- Very well done! My only problem with it is I did not hear an explosion after the bomb drop at the beginning. Just a very low note that sustained throughout the song.
