Brief Intro (release date, etc.)
11. "Zorch" (released on 8/19/2008) - is a lyrical parody of The Monkees' track "Zilch" and serves as a tribute to the late novelty singer Nervous Norvous.
Background about the song:
There once was a folk novelty singer by the name of Nervous Norvus. "Zorch" was his kind of sound that came out of his guitar, hence, the name of his collection of songs on his album, "The Zorch Sounds of Nervous Norvus". Some of the lyrics of his songs stick out, such as "The Noon Balooon to Rangoon", "I'll never ever ever gonna speed again", "Doodly Abba, Doodle Doodly Abba", and "You wanna be cool man? Just go ape!". Then sometime ago, I heard the Monkees' track "Zilch", featuring a rather psychedelic wordplay on phrase repetetion, and thus, I came up with the idea of giving The Monkees' Zilch treatment on Nervous Norvus, thus, came the idea of doing Zorch.
Where the humor in the recording comes from:
The goofy phrases of Nervous Norvus gets weirder and weirder as it goes on. (davidtanny) |
