Novelty records were especially susceptible to knock-offs, especially Peter Pan Records. Hey, it's just for kids, and they won't notice. And while it's not surprising for someone to do his own take on a straight song, it just seems weird for someone to honestly say they are doing a tribute to a comedy record. I personally have an autographed 45 of someone who did a live cover of "You Need Feet." It's a different arrangement, so it's not a knock-off, but for comedy what's the point of doing a different version? We want to hear new stuff.
