Only the first recording (Burgers from Heaven) contains a few songs recorded by the Hahavishnu Orch. Other musicians also played on those tracks as well but CDs released after Burgers also utilized some of the Hahavishnu members. The only record released during the Hahavishnu years was a 45rpm "Burgers From Heaven/Surfin' Shark" which was on the Wonder Label circa 1976. The same tracks were later released in 1980 on the Burgers LP which was re-released on CD with bonus tracks. (Darryl) |
During a 1977 performance at New York's Other End (also referred to as The Bitter End), Iggy Pop attended a Hahavishnu show and got on stage to do a duet with Darryl (pictures on website: www.music-comedy.com). During that two week stint many notable musicians attended such as Phoebe Snow who was highly offended. Robert Palmer stopped by and until his dying day had no idea what the band was about. Leon Redbone attended and commented that he though Darryl was weird..talk about the pot and the kettle etc.!!! (Darryl) |
Many musicians that were in the "Hahavishnu Orch." and "The Men From Glad" with Darryl have gone on to work with names such as Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Delbert McClinton and many more. The Cds utilize players from groups such as The Ga. Satellites, Sheryl Crow's band, Peabo Bryson's Band, Atlanta Rhythm Section and others. (Darryl) |
