Song Lyrics: |
Ridin' in a bus down the boulevard, And the place was pretty packed. Couldn't find a seat, so I had to stand, With the perverts in the back. It was smellin' like a locker room. There was junk all over the floor. We're already packed in like sardines, But we're stoppin' to pick up more. Look out!
Another one rides the bus-ah. Another one rides the bus-ah. And another comes on, And another comes on. Another one rides the bus. Hey! He's gonna sit by you. Another one rides the bus.
There's a suitcase pokin' me in the ribs. There's an elbow in my ear. There's a smelly old bum standin' next to me. Hasn't showered in a year. Well, I think I'm missin' a contact lens. I think my wallet's gone. And I think this bus is stoppin' again, To let a couple more freaks get on. Look out!
Another one rides the bus-ah. Another one rides the bus-ah. And another comes on. And another comes on. Another one rides the bus-ah. Hey! He's gonna sit by you. Another one rides the bus.
(Yeh) Huh ah huh ah huh ah huh ah
Another one rides the bus. Another one rides the bus-ow! Another one rides the bus-hey, hey! Another one rides the bus-hey-y-y-y!
The window doesn't open, and the fan is broke, And my face is turnin' blue. (ugh) I haven't been in a crowd like this Since I went to see The Who. Well, I should'a got off a couple miles ago, But I couldn't get to the door. There isn't any room for me to breathe. Now we're gonna pick up more, yeah!
Another one rides the bus-ah. Another one rides the bus-ah. And another comes on. And another comes on. Another one rides the bus-ah. Hey! He's gonna sit by you. Another one rides the bus.
Go! (go) Yeh! (yeh).

Initial assessment: Yes, the songs are identical. How do I know that for sure? I dragged out my original LP of Al's debut album that I bought in the early 80s and yes - the songs were indistinguishable from each other. It was all the other tracks from the Placebo EP that were slightly different. Different enough to justify a separate page for each. Classic marketing technique. You sell the same thing again, but add unique takes of other existing songs that are lying around generating no money to help justify the purchase. This is one of the many ways the music industry committed "suicide by greed" in the '80s (the $19 CDs that cost less than a dollar to make didn't help). This page gets merged; the others stay as they are.

fiogf49gjkf0d 27 years ago today, while on The Dr. Demento Show for a radio interview, a 20-year old kid named Alfred told Dr. Demento that he had written a brand new parody that he would like to debut live on the air. Also at the studio that day was a young drummer by the name of Jon Schwartz. Al asked Jon if he would bang on Al’s accordion case while Al sang his new song on the air. After a few practice runs in the studio’s hallway, Al, Jon, and the rest of the assorted cast of characters who were at the studio that day performed the Queen send-up “Another One Rides The Bus” live on the air. Dr. Demento had the foresight to record this historic event, and the song became an instant hit, helping to launch the career of “Weird Al” Yankovic. The rest, as they say, is history
