The Mad Music Hour #224 - January 18, 2018
Topic: Sick Puppy
This show is Explcicit

This week, musical revenge against the intangible! My health is crap. I’ve had to kick the ass of both cancer & diabetes, but it’s been at least 20 years since I’ve ever actually been sick with anything. No allergies, no flu, no colds – nothing...until now. I can be deathly ill with something, but I don’t get physically sick. I just don’t.

I refuse to lie down & be feverish. I possess the power of the internet, after all. So here’s a show that tells minor annoyance illnesses what to shove - and up where.

Show Facts:
These shows are always packed with pop culture references, both obvious & subtle. This one's just loaded with them - even more so than usual. I've been watching far too much Hellsing Ultimate Abridged lately, so the more recent shows are full of references to that, but there are also references to Skyrim, WoW, Bronies, Robin Williams - it just goes on & on. (Stavro Arrgolus)
Then there's the subtle & obscure stuff. In seg. 2, we open with the first few bars of "Ready To Die" by Andrew WK, a foreshadowing that the vampires were going to take over the show again.

Ever wonder why the banner always says "Pirate Bastard"? It's an reference to the British comedy, "Alexei Sayle's Stuff" in which the theme song in its every season referred to Sayle as a "fat bastard". I'm not fat, so...

How about the coat my pirate avatar in the banner wears - think those colors were chosen randomly? No freaking way. Black coat with a red collar...this is a reference to the one worn by Captain Okita (or Admiral in the remake) from Uchuu Senkan Yamato. The parrot is a "Norwegian Blue" - a Monty Python reference. These things are just endless...
(Stavro Arrgolus)
Then there's the stuff done just to be silly. Why is there so much anime bgm in the shows? It's not just any anime music; it's nearly always from iyashikei anime - think 'cute girls doing cute things'. Why? To counter all the horrible/sarcastic/snide/political things I say. It never sounds as bad if there's super cute music in the background. It's the internet equivalent of "Smile when you say that". Or that's the theory, anyway. (Stavro Arrgolus)

"But wait, there's more". In seg 2, we start with 'more of the same' and slowly degenerate into that other kind of sickness. Ok, maybe not so slowly...

Ha, I love making the 'progression' type segments.
