The Mad Music Show #228 - December 5, 2018
Topic: Xmas I: Jesus Christ Is In Heaven Now
This show is Explcicit

This week, the first Xmas show of the season – purposely made to be too damn early. No...that’s not true at all. This show actually has an newly adjusted playlist originally made for last year’s final show, but the cynical commercialism segment I made to start the show fits in perfectly with Black Friday, so that’s why you’re getting this show now.

As if anyone needed to be reminded, Xmas is all about...getting stuff! Wait, that’s not right. After all, getting without giving is like eating without swallowing – it’s disgusting.

This show has 4 parts:

Show Facts:
Ok, I'll admit it. The first segment is profane as hell and thoroughly unhinged. Its theme is greed/commercialism, so how could it be anything but profane? I imagine the other showmakers could find a way to make such a topic squeaky clean and politically correct...but it's just not in my nature to. Hope it's still good for a laugh or 3...or possibly 10. (Stavro Arrgolus)
The show title is a reference to the 'Hellsing' anime and has no religious significance whatsoever. Though the same can't be said for segment 2... (Stavro Arrgolus)
Common sense rule change: Ever notice I don't put "excerpt" on bgm? I realized that (almost) every bgm is an excerpt of something or other. Rather than put it after everything, I don't use it at all for bgm. The rule still applies to actual truncated tunes that aren't used as bgm. (Stavro Arrgolus)
I'll say this once. If you're the timid/easily offended/queasy type, BEWARE segment 3, for it WILL make you vomit & pass out. ...I wouldn't be doing my job if it didn't. When someone has to interrupt the segment to stop what's going on, you know it's a damn good segment.

That said, as I say in the show itself, this is a segment that's extremely positive toward the subject matter - and my shows are rarely positive about anything. Segment 3 is likely the most vulgar & profane, yet still the most positive & uplifting segment I've ever made for any show...and I have 10 kinds of mixed feelings about that.
(Stavro Arrgolus)
This 2 hour show clocks in at just over 2½ hours. It was recorded between 11/26 and 12/5/2018. Oh, and the next show won't be nearly as profane. Promise. (Stavro Arrgolus)

The BBC would like to apologize to everyone in the world for the first segment. It was disgusting and bad and thoroughly disobedient, and please
don't bother to phone up because we know it was very tasteless, but they
didn't really mean it and they all come from broken homes and have very
unhappy personal lives, especially Tyro. Anyway, they're all really
nice people underneath, and very warm in the traditional show business
way. And please don't write in either because the BBC is going through
an unhappy phase at the moment, what with its father dying, and the
mortgage, and BBC2 going out with men.

Where the heck do you find all this great music?

And more importantly, how can people still listen to crap like Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift when they have awesome stuff like this to listen to instead?

One of the few benefits of being old/decrepit is the ability to remember this stuff. That Pearl Bailey song in seg. 1? I heard it when it was released. This applies to most of the older material I play. Some of the show's best stuff comes directly from internet radio...like the kind we have here. If you look around, every genre has internet stations dedicated to it. Especially Xmas. You hear it, Google it, snag a copy. YouTube provides an endless supply of it. (not that we advocate piracy or anything...oh, wait...)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the other, I've been saying "today's music sucks" for decades. In the '90s, "grunge sucks." In the '80s, "hair metal sucks." In the '70s, disco (obviously) sucks." Before "Rubber Soul", I thought The Beatles were just more noise. Then they started writing their own tunes - and all of modern music changed.

The dealership fried my car CD player & wouldn't replace it, so for a while (before I rigged an old 4th gen iPod to it), I had to listen to the actual radio. Hoo, boy! What a steaming pile! At least the disco artists could actually sing (mostly). Just search for "Millennial whoop" and the core of the problem is right there...along with Auto-Tune.

"No-talent bastards", "pre-programmed dreck" & "uninspired crap" doesn't even begin to describe today's music. But then, every generation thinks the music we heard when we were young is better than the turd sandwiches they dare to call songs today. The difference is that unlike before, this time, we're right.

Yeah,  people have been saying, "X type of music sucks" for generations....  But that is why Novelty music is forever.  Trends come and go... but  songs about murder, mayhem and madness (as long it is done in cheek you weirdos... and you know who I am talking to! You in the back with his hands in his pants!) never get old.

I would give anything (or at least grab someone else's small child from public transportation) to find a collection of music like yours.

So keep on producing the great shows and laughing in the face of a planet that takes itself too serious these days.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Cap'n.
