  • The Beatles were truly one of the biggest rock acts in the world during the 60's. They had over 20 #1 hit singles and a score of multi-platinum record albums. Hits include "She Loves You," "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "Ticket To Ride," "Eleanor Rigby," "Hey Jude," and "Let It Be." Band split in 1970 for solo careers (John and Paul having the most successful). Made a semi-reunion on Ringo Starr's "Ringo" album in 1973 and was a Top Ten hit. John Lennon was assassinated on December 1980 by Mark Chapman (a mentally deranged fan). George Harrison died of throat cancer in 2001. (goetzrbrt5)
