Facts: |
Mark Jonathan Davis is a writer, actor, and producer. He was born in New York, raised in Arizona, and has lived and worked in Southern California since 1990. He has over 25 years of experience working as a writer, performer, and consultant in entertainment, advertising/marketing, and politics.
Davis began his professional career in radio in the early 1980's, working at legendary stations like KZZP and Pirate Radio. In 1990, he moved to Los Angeles to manage the Premiere Radio Comedy Networks, where he produced parody songs including "The Star Wars Cantina," "Jeannie's Diner," and "Rice Rice Baby." Beginning in 1992, Davis joined the KROQ Kevin & Bean morning show in L.A., performing characters such as Paul The 55-Year-Old Intern, Shakespeare Man, Lt. Sulu, and Bob Hope.
Also in the 1990's, Davis performed voices for Warner Brothers' Superman/Batman cartoon movies and TV series, and worked as an award-winning commercial producer, announcer, and jingle singer for NBC, CBS, and Nick At Nite. He currently runs World Creative Supply, an advertising agency that specializes in creating product names and ad slogans.
Davis has also worked as a stuntman in a Chris Isaak video, developed theme park attractions for Walt Disney Imagineering, written jokes for President Bill Clinton, appeared as himself on NBC's "NewsRadio," performed a Stupid Human Trick on the Late Show with David Letterman, and met President Barack Obama at a White House Holiday Party.
Since 2000, Davis has been recording and touring as Las Vegas lounge singer character "Richard Cheese," who croons big-band swing versions of popular rock and rap songs. His "Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine" swing band has released thirteen CDs, played sellout shows all over the United States, Canada, England, and Portugal, and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly, CNN with Anderson Cooper, MTV's Say What Karaoke, and in the movie Dawn Of The Dead. The band's most recent CD release is "A Lounge Supreme." (Dave AuJus) |

Artist is actually Mark Johnathin Davis.

Yes. Fixed. We're having difficulty with the stream control function (the Halloween stream is up, by the way), so I was a bit distracted.

Mark Jonathan Davis has again completely disappeared from the Mad Music search engine. He wrote most of his good songs as Mark Jonathan Davis NOT Richard Cheese. The Artist is Mark Jonathan Davis. Richard Cheese is an AKA.

(grumble...) I remember not too long ago when mucking about on the site was fun and not about nitpicking every detail. Do you think for a moment that I don't know about these things? Especially on larger pages like this one. When you see something like this, there's usually a reason I'm bending my own rules and it's always a practical one. Look at the song list. The overwhelming majority of songs are by Mark Jonathan Davis' "Richard Cheese" character. If I change it to what it's supposed to be (by my own rule), 90+% of them would then read "XXXX song - (with Richard Cheese)". And that would look stupid. Then someone would point that out & complain the page should be for Richard Cheese. You can't win. Sometimes, technically correct isn't the best sort of correct...but not often. If visitors are fans of 'Richard Cheese', they know who the guy really is. Most of them, anyway. They'll search for Cheese (usually we have it, but today the van broke down), not Davis. There. The rules are bent to accommodate visitors to the site. Especially when sizable catalogs are involved. I could make a page for Davis alone and link it to this one, but then someone would want me to merge them. Wayne mentioned recently that he had a plan to deal with multiple artists & personas. When that gets implemented, we won't have this problem anymore. But I'll be bugging him to fix the broken things first - "This very page had the post order backwards and the new font control doesn't work on it. Worse, the post isn't visible when you save. You have to navigate away from the page & return to it to see your post." That sort of thing.

...this falls under a lot of artists, but placed as alais the artists released them by. Examples: Pee-wee Herman is Paul Rubens but its under Peewee Herman Elvira is Cassandra Peterson but under Elvira, both has release music using Persona and Real Life names. Can you imagine the pain sorting through "Characters" to put them under real names, IE Anaimanics, Looney Tunes, Disney, Muppets, the list goes on and on. In cases like this is best to leave the artist page under the name their best known as. Wish the system was a way to put the song under the artists release name they released the material and use the alisas to combine materials in the appropriate pages: Here is a really good example: Jonny Jakobsen his aliases are Jonny Moonshine, Dr. Bombay, Dr. MacDoo, Carlito. It would put Dr. Bombay on its own page using material released under that alias and alias only, so only songs released under Bomaby would show up. Same with other materials under the appriate released alsis. But than under Jonny Jakobsen (the main account or performer page) would list all them with the releases material in parentheses with the released alais. Here's I i mean: Under Dr. Bombay: "SOS (Tiger Took My Family)" would be under Dr. Bombay. But would show up under Jonny's page as "SOS (Tiger Took My Family " (as Dr. Bombay" in the full title. The word I'm looking for is "Cross Referencing" because there's too many artists that uses too many aliases, released artists names, nicknames, etc to try and fix up. I have stuff released under Halfshell, Halfshell Hero, Sabaka, and Sabaka Mahusky.... but it's all under my main artist page with the Performer name in the "( )". as a cross reference.
